According to experts, eating certain foods before bed can improve the quality of your sleep, and it’s good news if you have a sweet tooth. Among the recommended foods to help your sleep quality is dark chocolate. In moderation, dark chocolate can improve sleep by prompting your body to produce serotonin, a chemical that helps you relax. It’s best to pair the dark chocolate with another sleep-enhancing food like peanut butter, almonds, or bananas. Peanut butter specifically can help by stabilizing blood sugar levels and supporting muscle growth. Foods like popcorn and cheese are also said to be beneficial for sleep, with popcorn also aiding in serotonin production and cheese being good for preventing hunger pangs during the night.
