III.  RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES

TYPE OF RECRUITMENT INITIATIVE
(MENU SELECTION)

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY

1

Sponsor internship program (3)

During this reporting period, our SEU hosted a total of nine interns for the programming, promotions and sales department.  The internship programs allowed interns the opportunity to learn aspects of the broadcast industry first-hand (including music selection and station promotion) and to ask questions of radio personnel.  The interns were supervised by the Promotions Director.

·   Spring: Three Spring interns represented the University of Nebraska-Omaha and one came from Midland Lutheran College.

·   Summer: Of our Summer interns, one was from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, two were from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and the forth was from Iowa Western Community College.

·   Fall: Our Fall intern represented the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

2

Participate in career fair

On March 18, 2008, our SEU participated in the Omaha Broadcasters Career Fair in cooperation with Fairs Global and Omaha Broadcasters in Omaha, NE.  We advertised the fair over the air and on member station websites.  We also participated in operational aspects of the fair and as a participating employer.  Over 415 people attended.  Station participants included the General Manager, Program Directors, Director of Sales, Business Manager, Sales Managers and Promotions Director.

3

Participate in scholarship program

In partnership with the Nebraska Broadcasters Association, our SEU participated in the Nebraska Broadcasters Association Foundation Student Scholarship Program that awarded $1600 scholarships to two local students.  In addition to a monetary donation to the scholarship fund, our SEU collected and graded applications and advertised the scholarship via station websites and on-air announcements.  Eligibility requirements included: GPA, a scored essay, experience in the field, honors and awards, post-high school extra curricular activities, attendance at a four year college or university, completion of 60 credit hours as of May 31, 2008, and a desire to pursue a career in broadcasting.

4

Participate in job fair

On August 25, 2008, our SEU participated in  a job fair conducted by the Omaha Chamber of Commerce in Omaha, NE.  At the fair we provided information to attendees on the broadcast industry and specific career opportunities available at our stations.  Station participants included the Promotions Manager and Sales Manager.
