Toby Keith has landed the cover Forbes’ July 15th issue.
Under the headline “Cowboy Capitalist: Country’s $500 Million Man,” the cover feature evaluates the business of being the Big Dog Daddy with details on his record label, restaurant chain and Wild Shot Mezcal. The magazine estimates Toby has never earned less than $48 million a year over the past five years.
Toby was also among the first investors in the record label Big Machine, which is home to Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw. Forbes estimates Toby owns about 10-perecent of the label.
So how does Taylor affect Toby’s paycheck? He says, “I know there’s an extra comma if you added up all the money I’ve ever made.”
The new issue of Forbes also includes the 2013 Celebrity 100 list, which is based on entertainment-related earnings plus media visibility. Taylor is number-six while Toby is number-43. Carrie Underwood and Kenny Chesney are ranked 46th and 47th, respectively.
